If you have staff, co-owners, or trusted friends who need access to your game server, the Pterodactyl panel allows you to add sub-users with customisable permissions. This way, you can delegate management tasks without sharing your own login details.
Adding a Sub-User
Step 1: Open the Users Tab
In the Pterodactyl panel, navigate to your server and click on the Users tab.
Step 2: Invite a New User
Click Create New and enter the email address of the person you want to add. They will receive an email invitation to create a Pterodactyl account (or log in if they already have one).
Step 3: Set Permissions
Choose which permissions the sub-user should have. Pterodactyl offers granular control, allowing you to grant or restrict access to the console, file manager, backups, databases, schedules, settings, and more.
Step 4: Save
Click Create User to send the invitation. The sub-user will be able to access the server from their own Pterodactyl account once they accept.
Managing Permissions
You can edit or revoke a sub-user’s permissions at any time from the Users tab. If someone no longer needs access, simply remove them. It is good practice to give sub-users only the permissions they actually need - this follows the principle of least privilege and reduces the risk of accidental changes.
Warning: Be cautious about granting file manager and settings permissions. A sub-user with full file access could delete critical server files or modify configurations in ways that break the server.
